Firstly I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas
and New Year. This year is going to be HUGE, the Prez and Vice Prez have
lots of exciting Ideas and of course we are running the membership drive
in conjunction with canetoad records.
A quick update on that: the member who signs up
the most "newbies" will receive a Canetoad CD, Club t-shirt,
club enamel badge, club sticker and a 12 month membership for
themselves. IF You sign up just TWO (2) new members you will receive a
free CD of your choice courtesy of Canetoad records from their catalogue.
The first five(5) new members will receive a gift
including "the latest Issue of big beat magazine, 2 back Issues of
the same magazine to get your collection started and of course the club
sticker"
Our Membership has increased dramatically over the
past 12 months. It is fantastic to see a renewed interest in the
Society.
We have a number of back Issues of Big Beat of the
50's. I have a current up to date list of all available magazines so if
anyone is after any back Issues please contact me either by email: k-scarffe@msn.com,
'phone: 03 9744 5539 or at the PO box address. Back Issues are from 1986
onwards.
We held the AGM on 8th December 2002, and we have
minutes on file. If anyone is interested in receiving a copy please let
me know, either again, by email, or I can post them to you.
Have all members updated their membership details recently? If
not please do, that way we will be sure that you don't miss out on any
copies of Big Beat of the 50's.
On 14 December 2002, we held our Annual Christmas
Picnic, although a small group of people we all enjoyed ourselves. Santa
arrived on the scene in a Yellow '36 Ford ute ringing his bell and
handing out presents to all Children. Afterwards despite the heat he sat
and had photos taken with all the children. We hope that this will
become a big social event each year as a way to introduce new people to
the club, and meet the committee and also have the children involved in
R'n'R. Stay tuned for the Photos.
For those members who are "electronically
minded", we are looking into setting up a netbanking system so that
you can do your memberships online and therefore reducing time spent
waiting at banks and post offices to get a cheque or money order.
Member can pay their membership or any other
transactions through electronic fund transfer at your bank. Check with
your bank about how to arrange this. The details of the ARRAS account
are as follows...
Bank: Bendigo Bank
Fountain Court.
BSB: 633000
Account: 115226318
Reference: your membership number or surname.
I would like to Wish Darren Paull a HUGE Thank-you
for showing me the ropes and helping me out whenever I had questions
about taking on this role. We will miss his help and assistance and,
Remember Darren, you are always welcome at BBQ's here.
